The Song & Ale is a weekend gathering of singers
that is held annually, last weekend in September, on a farm in
Northamptonshire. There are no instruments, but lots of chorus
songs. There are no booked performers, everybody who comes undertakes
a short stint of work in the kitchen, on the gate, or as part
of the task force. The event sells out each year so early booking
is advisable. Having run the event since 1980, and developed it
to the extent that there are now many other small events are copying
ideas from Song & Ale, Tom and Barbara Brown announced at
the 2003 event that they would be giving up running it. A new
management group has now taken over.
